’80′s Night’ update

An 80′s themed night was held at the school on the 9th March, in aid of the ‘Hope Against Cancer’ charity. Thanks to good attendance and hard work from the organisers, PTA and school staff, £600 was raised on the night, which is an excellent result.

Parents and children were invited to attend in fancy dress and prizes were given to the best Adult, Best Child and Best Family entries. Judging was difficult but worthy winners were found.

Entertainment during the evening included 80′s music, a table quiz, ‘roll-the-pound’ (like bowls but with £1 coins going to the charity) and food was also provided.

The fancy dress competition really was a competition, with members of staff digging out their 80′s gear as well as students getting dressed up….like their parents once did! The adults remembered their early years and the children wondered how their parents must have looked back then!

One of the highlights of the evening was Mr Kirkwood sacrificing half his beard for the sake of the charity and he bravely shaved off the left hand side of his beard, to the wonder of everyone there!

Everyone enjoyed themselves and a worthwhile charity benefited at the same time too.

Forthcoming events……

In the pipeline are a ‘Dixie got Talent’ show (that will be organised by the students), a ‘Pimms & Pudding’ evening as well as a possible Beer Festival!

Keep an eye out for updates, which will be posted once events are finalised.

Please support these events when you can – they are worth attending, as well as helping the students!
